Lock & Key- Prohibition Ends Here!

Gurgaon evenings just got a lot more refined with the speak-easy themed bar and restaurant Lock & Key opened recently at the Cross Point Mall. The first impression I got as I entered this premise was a reflection of an underground old school bar with a chic seating, gradually the speak-easy theme became relevantly apparent. Live classic rock and acoustic music set the tone right as the almost full house cherished on drinks and conversations.

Now then since we were in the no prohibition zone based on the speakeasy bars in the US in 1920s when alcohol was banned through the country, it was hardly a surprise that the bar was stalked with all kinds of alcohol one could think of! There were plentiful options in the cocktails menu to choose from, the bartender helped us with the menu after carefully registering our taste and choices. We picked the Elder Fashioned which was bourbon based with elderflower reduction and cherry smoke, absolutely relished the smooth drink as it was astonishingly synonymous with the old world charm and the setting.

The food menu was a pleasant surprise as it had both classic and fusion options, clearly curated by someone with a good understanding of flavors and concoctions. A range of dishes presented in a simple format of small and large plates, smart!

We called for a mix of both styles with Vada Aranchini, Pesto Flatbread, Petit Gouda Naans and Galouti Sliders. Loved the flatbread. Vada Aranchini was also a good take on Italian-southindian. Fluffy Gouda Naans did justice as a light bite and my non-vegetarian adored the Galouti sliders. It was a delight to see a variety of interesting vegetarian options in both starters and the mains, a look at the menu will get you excited.

Overall we had a wonderful time at Lock & Key as it lived up to the revered speakeasy theme coupled with great food and cocktails!
