Savouring reinvented classics at the Rajastani Food Festival at Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Gurugram

The cuisine of Rajasthan chronicles the story of a land that celebrates its rich history and its diverse cultural tradition. Right from its signature delicacies such as Dal Baati Churma and Kachori to sweeter creations like Ghevar, Imarti, and Malpua, this royal state is a paradise for lovers of great food. Pure ghee is at the heart of a great Rajasthani meal.

The cuisine is a delectable blend of multiple regional cuisines such as Mewari, Marwari, Shekhawati, and Bikaneri. Whether you are a spice lover or a person with a sweet tooth, the Rajasthani Food Festival at Courtyard Marriott Downtown Gurugram has a mouth-watering delicacy for you to discover.

Rajasthani ThaliChef Shailendra Khanna created a meticulously crafted menu for the festival in collaboration with visiting Maharaj from Marriott in Rajasthan adding his culinary expertise, experience and skill to every creation.

While the kheere ki sabzi (chunks of cucumber cooked in a spicy gravy), ker sangri (made with ker berry and sangri bean), Rajasthani kadhi and the principal dish- three types of baati with a side of churma were beautifully executed, it was the laal maas on the non-vegetarian thali that stood out because of the tender and well-marinated meat and the magical amalgamation of the right spices.

IMG_3520Another highlight was the Mawa topped Ghevar. In my heartwarming tête-à-tête, Chef spoke about the inspiration behind each dish on the menu and even took the time to explain the painstaking process of preparation of the Ghevar which was the star dish of the evening.

The attentive staff, an innovative menu of drinks to add that extra zing to the meal and the overall vibrancy of the space made for a memorable afternoon.

With a wide array of dishes to choose from even on their regular al a carte menu and an inspired menu of seasonal favourites on the buffet, we can’t wait to be back again as the restaurants at Courtyard by Marriot Downtown Gurugram are set to become a family favourite for several warm, relaxed culinary adventures filled with great food and soulful conversation.
