Easter brunches and languid summer afternoons go hand in hand and they cannot be celebrated better than at the lavish Easter brunch at 1911, Imperial Hotel.

I was invited to a special preview and if that is anything to go by, 16th April afternoon should be spent there.

The menu is special and varied and if you are a meat lover , you will have a special time.

Indulgence is the keyword here and my two favourite items were the stuffed chicken roulade and the leg of lamb. Lamb is my most favourite meat and not only was the lamb cooked perfectly, the stuffing took it to another level. Flavourful, it was like discovering a new piece of joy with every mouthful. A great way to begin the meal.

The chicken roulade and the salmon strudel had again the same balance of flavour yet a sense of festive cheer about their taste.

The roasted beer chicken is brilliant. Simple ingredients done well elevates dishes and this shows how. There is nothing not to like here – Chicken – yeah, butter – double yeah! and finally beer – HELL yeah!!. But seriously the flavours are spot on and that makes all the difference.

The vegetarians too will not be disappointed here as there are many healthy (and innovative) salads on the menu too.

The eggplant rataouille was one of my picks but the baked rigatoni was really special. This is the sort of hearty, Italian fare one loves to eat on a sunday brunch and more so if its festive. Did you say you liked cheese? go ahead and try this out then.

A special mention must go to the humble Brussel sprouts – underwhelming usually but here braised and mixed with bits of bacon they could be nibbled on all day.

Finally, the meal ended with a flambe spectacle with the Baba Au Rum, that was seriously on the rum (I’m not complaining) and deliciousness. The cake itself was superb but the strong rum helped hasten the cake’s path right into my stomach.

By the way Imperial’s pastry shop, La Baguette is also doing some Easter special delectable sweets like cookies, breads and chocolates which you absolutely must partake in.

Chef Prem’s technique and the adventurous spirit were clearly visible with the dishes. Come celebrate Easter with friends, family and Delhi’s balmy weather.
