Smartphone Review: Nubia Z11 Mini S -Outdoor Photography

I didn’t know much about the brand Nubia until I got to try it. I have had the phone for over 10 days now and the first thing I’m going to say I love about it is that it has a lot of features that the most expensive phones in the market do not have.

Nubia has been slowly expanding its portfolio in the Indian smartphone market and with features like this, it won’t have to struggle much. The Z11 mini S will be sold exclusively on Amazon.in. Nubia knows its customer and therefore if there are people in the market who are looking for change, this may be a good alternative.

It’s metal unibody design is sleek and beautiful and easy to hold.

The phone is quite thin (7-8mm) but because of the way it has been designed, it won’t slip off from your hand at all. I prefer a glossy finish to matte but the matte also makes the grip of the phone stronger.

The phone has a 5.2 inch full HD display. The viewing experience is wonderful. I did not apply any kind of tempered glass to the phone because it has gorilla glass protection.

I usually use my phones for portrait photography outdoors and I found that using the phone with one hand was quite convenient. This phone is a dual-sim phone and both SIMs are 4G. It has FM radio too which is pretty amazing because the radio plays while you are doing other stuff on the phone. The radio is very clear. In fact, I downloaded the “Apple Music” app and did a comparison between three known brands and Nubia was the loudest. It is the perfect phone for travel or for small parties where you don’t want the music to overpower the conversation.

It has ‘Edge Gestures’ and ‘Screen Split-up’ features that may be very beneficial to multi-taskers.

I went around the city with the phone and took a lot of pictures of flowers in bright sunlight and was quite happy with the results.

I also tried it for selfies while I was in Ladakh for the weekend and the result was quite good!  I did not try the phone for night-time photography because I use DSLRs for night-time photography anyway.

Its 13-megapixel front camera has PDAF and an f/2.0 aperture. This is amazing because when you take selfies it adds a DSLR look and depth in them. You don’t need to download any beauty apps as it has a beautify feature inbuilt in it. It also has screen flash. You can make videos at 1080p with the front camera which is very impressive for this price range.

The specifications of the phone are as follows:

Display: 5.20-inch

Processor: 2GHz octa-core

Front Camera: 13-megapixel

Resolution: 1080×1920 pixels

RAM: 4GB

OS: Android 6.0

Storage: 64GB

Rear Camera: 23-megapixel

Battery Capacity: 3000mAh

Price: Rs. 16,999

Overall, the experience with this phone has been pretty good.
