Asia 7, the Pan Asian offering from Lite Bite food is having a Yum Cha festival at Ambience Mall, Gurgaon and it offers a phenomenal range of classic and innovative flavours that will surely please your taste buds.

Here are my favourites from the menu but hey, you can go and find your favourite as all of it is equally delicious.

Xi fan Congee soup

Thinner than the traditional congee soup, this is lighter and perfect as an appetiser. The burnt garlic and coriander made it really fresh and rice noodles gave it a great textural contrast.

Spicy Asparagus dumpling

This is a must have for all. Asparagus, not native to Asian cooking is managed masterfully with Thai herbs like lemongrass and kaffir lime and a delicious peanut sauce to bring it all together. Lays can replace their chips with this dimsum as no one can eat just one (cheesy reference ends!)

Yummy cheese in chilly dumpling

If asparagus was different then wait till you bite into this. Philly cheese – I am guessing provolone – is mixed with water chestnuts and shitake mushroom to give a nuanced flavour, complimenting the Asian roots of the dish. The mellow flavour of the cheese though brings a great, creamy mouthfeel to each bite.

Prawn dumpling in yellow curry sauce

Perfectly cooked, juicy prawns are slathered with a delicious, spicy yellow thai curry and make this my most favourite dimsum of the lot. As with the other dimsums, these are unique in flavor combination and taste. But make no mistake if they are good or not because they are fabulous.

Crystal duck and cherry dumpling

If you love duck like I do, this is the one to go for. The meaty duck is roasted and then paired with a hoisin sauce along with cherry. Classic combination and done well.

Mango ice cream

Though there is no ice cream on the menu but the chef gave me a little portion of mango ice cream with a molten chocolate cake. I won’t talk about the cake because it was good but the ice cream overshadowed everything on the plate. Homemade and rich – the way ice creams should be.
