Fatty Bao is one of the foremost, hippest Pan Asian restaurants in the city and my regular Pan Asian fix.
The restaurant has started a Sunday Ping Pong brunch that including among other things – a ping pong table! More seriously, table tennis connects the regions represented in the Fatty Bao menu as well, hence it ties it all together.
While literally everything on the menu is a must try but some dishes do stand out. Among the vegetarian items, the fried eggplant bao and the smoked corn cake are worrth the price of admission. Fatty Bao has always had some of the best bao’s in town but the very thinly sliced, batter coated and deep fried goodness of the eggplant elevates the dish no end. Similarly, the corn cake is sweet, smoky and scrumptious.
Among the non-veg dishes, go for the stir fried kimchi pork or the star dish the fried fish bao. These are some of the most contemporary, innovative and delicious dishes you can gorge on.
If you want to add to the unlimited Brunch offering with Signature Brunch Specials – order the Okonomiyaki Burger(with Bacon & Sriracha), Benedict Bao(with Warm Hollandaise), Scrambled Tofu (with Kimchi Peppers & Mushrooms) and Doriyaki (Japanese Matcha Pancakes Sandwiched with Dark Chocolate Sea Salt, Topped with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream).
