Travel Diary: Day #1 – Bangkok, Thailand

Delhi to Thailand isn’t a long flight but if the flight is packed with weepy kids, a gang of entitled young men, people who drink alcohol at 2 am just because it’s free, people who watch random movies with crazy bright screens even though the airplane lights have been turned down and a group of men who can’t stop shaking their legs and laughing out loud, then you are in for a long night. I didn’t sleep at all. The service of Jet Airways international really disappointed me. The speed was slow, so slow that I thought I will never get dinner!

Please forgive my ranting and grammatical errors as I want to share my experience with you but I have no energy to spellcheck.

Anyhow, so on reaching Thailand we got VISA ON ARRIVAL. It cost on 1000 Thai Baht (THB) which is Rs. 2000. It took slightly longer than expected but that was because the queue was really long.

Once the visa was done we got a nice Mercedes that Emirates had sent my sister as she was joining me from Dubai the exact same time.

We took the cab and reached  Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa. We checked in and because we are starwood members we get a really late checkout!

The rooms were huge and had an open bathroom but it can be closed. The room has all basic amenities and two huge double beds. The internet speed is quite good. The upload speed is better than the download.

The hotel rooms we are in have brilliant golf course views. Love ’em!

Som Tum Thai: Green Papaya Salad

The hotel has a lot of great restaurants including “Latest Recipe” where we had dinner. We spent the whole day lazing around and tried a lot of fun thai teats.

I got a map at reception and now I have to explore the places I can visit.

See you soon!
