Climbing and conquering Mount Everest is every trekker and traveller’s dream. Most people think that they don’t have it in them to survive in the harsh climate of the Himalayas. I like everyone else, thought the same. However, I was pleasantly surprised when a friend of mine who is a traveller just like me told me about how wonderful his 13 Days Everest base camp trek was. My first question was, “you really survived 13 days?”.
I may certainly not have the knowhow to survive such an environment but tag along with experts and you will find the trek a lot easier than you thought it would be. Unique Adventure International in and http://www.mojhi.com/ do 13, 14 and 15 days treks and the price includes departure with flights. You will have to pay for accommodation in Kathmandu and Food during your trek but that won’t amount to a lot.
This particular planned trek has been ranked 9 by Nepal Mountaineering Association among 1100+ trekking operators which made me very confident to go with it. The instructors speak in fluent English and all of them are licensed guides so you know you can follow what they are saying without worrying.
Not only did I see the breathtaking Mount Everest, I also saw Mt. Lhotse (8516m.), Mt. Makalu (8462m.), Mt. Nuptse (7861m.) and Mt Cho Oyu (8201m.).
Local Sherpa culture and traditions are very different to what we hear and just as fascinating. We all know about Hillary and Tenzing and following on their footsteps was a marvelous experience. The attractive Kala Patthar or black rock was beautiful and nothing like I had imagined it to be.
The first day you will take a connecting flight to Lukla (2800 meter) and start trekking to Phakding (2610 meter). The flight is 30 minutes and the walk is 3 hrs approx. You will need to stay at the guesthouse overnight.
On Day 8 you will finally trek to Everest Base Camp (5320 meter) via Gorakhshep (5150 meter) and be back in Gorakhshep after. The walk is 8 hrs approx. and you will stay at a guesthouse overnight.
The best time to do this trek are spring and autumn so plan and book in advance so you can experience this one in a lifetime feeling with the best people.
