Oriental Pavilion – Fortune Select, Gurgaon

Fortune Select, Gurgaon hosted for a lovely afternoon lunch at their Pan Asian restaurant, Oriental Pavilion.  Chef InderDev, specially had us taste many delicacies and boy were they good!

The meal began with a wonderfully fragrant Mizutaki soup. The flavourful broth was accentuated by the sharp acidic Ponzu flavour.

My two favourite appetizers were the dragon chicken and the Thai fish flavoured with Kaffir Lime. Though fried fish is certainly an easy favourite but the Kaffir lime made the dish with its lilting perfume adding to the complexity and elevating it.

My two favourite main courses were the sesame and pepper noodles along with the shredded chicken in a black pepper sauce.

Although most of my fav dishes were non – veg but the vegetarian items on the menu here were in no way inferior to the non veg choices. The varied choice of beans and many different steamed and crispy options will satiate any non meat eating person.

The piece de resistance (so to say) was the Tempura fried ice cream as dessert. Although most Oriental dishes are not very calorific and heavy, but the Chef has allowed for some indulgence here. The covering of the fried ice cream is a dried fruit cake!! and the rich vanilla ice cream sits inside. All of us eating this were drooling, guilty but thoroughly enjoying this wonderful dessert and everyone coming here should try this.
