Justin Lin’s Star Trek 3 is Going To Be Bigger Than EVER!

Star Trek Beyond is the third installment in the Star Trek film franchise, but promises to be three times as fun. Directed by the ‘Fast and Furious’ director Justin Lin and scripted by the funny man and superstar Simon Pegg, this movie seems to be whacky and funny whilst being loyal to the Star Trek roots. This time too it has managed to get hold of a stellar cast with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg himself among a plethora of other stars that grace the film.

According to what is known so far about the film, the crew will be in among a 5 year pace journey and they will be facing their biggest enemy ever, Krall, who is fundamentally against everything the Star Trek Federation stands for. This “Trek ” adventure takes place as the the entire crew gets stuck on a faraway planet as part of a dangerous rescue mission. The destructive Krall, played by the brilliant Idris Elba is hell bent on bringing the Enterprise down and thus, in his head, making humanity stronger.

The actors have constantly talked about what a challenge this movie has been for them. Zoe Saldana was one of the actors to say that she worked so hard that she was tired and exhausted and she needed time off. She also said that she has been tested to her ultimate in the film, not just her acting skills but her personal life as well. I’m intrigued because if a movie takes so much out of you and the actors give it their all – I want to watch it!

I follow A. O. Scott for all his reviews and he writes in The New York Times that, “one of the abiding pleasures of “Star Trek,” in its old and newer iterations, lies in its balance of stubborn consistency and canny inventiveness.” Inventiveness is why I love Justin Lin. I have been a Justin Lin fan for ever and because the movie releases on the 22nd of July in India, I will be watching the special screening of the film at PVR Directors Cut in Delhi and I really can’t wait.
