Canteen – the word brings memories of school and college days – endless trips with friends and those long discussions. To provide the same experience to students and others alike, Canteen Till I Die has opened its doors in Satyaniketan. Right opposite Venkateswara College, at the very beginning of Satyaniketan, stands this hip place, offering an assortment on the menu with prices that make everyone happy.
Designed just like a college canteen, with some added comfort of course, and maintaining prices on the similar level, this place offers some innovative food at easy prices. Have a meal and you feel the happy for the delicious offering that they have to offer, and happier when you see the bill 🙂
During a visit to the café on an invite, I started my evening with a Paan Virgin Mojito (₹ 45), which is a welcome change from the original one – it is made with an actual paan and is not just syrup and soda so the authentic taste is there and it is not too sweet. Chandni Chowk to China (₹ 49) is an attempt to create a version of the common bhel – crispy noodles replace the sev, veggies and chutneys do the flavoring, good. Crunchy Chicken and Coriander Pops (₹ 135) are a marvelous creation – served with sriracha mayo, you will never get over them.

Toasties get a new avatar with the variety offered by Canteen, I tasted the Butter Chicken (₹ 59) variant served with mint mayo and loved it.

From the burger section, I laid my hands on the Keema Ghotala burger (₹ 125) and Canteen Chicken Burger (₹50) – I must say, they are way above any burgers available in cafes – maintaining enough juice in the meat to keep them interesting. The Keema Ghotala burger is a must try.

Having no appetite for desserts, I settled for a Mango shot (₹25) and a Ferrero Rocher shake (₹99). Bliss! They also do pretty good fresh Slow Pressed Juices (₹125) – I got to try the Antioxidant Supreme and it is totally worth it.

The best part about Canteen – in spite of the low prices, the food is not compromised with, they have a state of the art open kitchen churning out hygienic eatables. The only thing challenging is the parking and the metro construction going on, it only adds to the pain, but once you are over that, just prepare yourself for a treat.
