Barista of the Year 2015 – A Costa Coffee Tradition

Brewed beans had their victory; mixed with cocoa, blended with thunder and topped with sugar.

On the 7th of September, Costa Coffee held the world famous barista challenge – Barista of the Year 2015, in the busy DLF Place Mall, Saket. The global competition is an initiative to bring out the best coffee maker in the world; who can not only make the best cup of coffee but also has thorough understanding of taste and innovation. This competition marked 10 years of Costa Coffee’s arrival in India, the international coffee chain has over 100 stores in India today.
The parameters of judging were based taste, presentation and innovation. A number of participants were cheered by the live audience; they got great support for each of their signature drinks that they presented to the judges.
Devendra Kumar from Costa Coffee, Agra blew hearts away as he showcased a lovely amalgamation of green tea, green apple and coffee. The judges were thrilled to see the wonderful drink named, ‘Nations Coffee’, which was the purest form of innovation and creativity. The drink was a palate cleanser as it blended in the aromas of coffee and tea. The colors of the drink represented the Indian National Flag, which he believed would be a great way to showcase India’s pride in the finale in London.

When asked about the event, Mr. Ashish Chanana, COO Costa Coffee India merrily replied that the core reason behind making the event public was getting the coffee makers closer to their real judges, the customers. Adding to this he also said that the internal outcome behind the challenge is to motivate the coffee makers in the Costa family and keep innovations brewing.

The Costa family believes in quality, taste and innovation.
The 10th anniversary of the Barista of the Year challenge, marked a new beginning with a vibrant flavor of mocha and passion.
