It’s that time of the year again, when rock lovers can rejoice and the rest can join in to head over to Hard Rock Cafe and indulge their taste buds, not only in food but also in booze.
At Hard Rock Cafe, it is no longer just hard rock it’s mixed up with Latin style for the ongoing zesty Latino fest.
Being among the fortunate few I got to witness the Latin festival closely in all its glory.
A brief introduction was given about Hard Rock Cafe; it started in London in 1970’s and came to India in 2006 and in New Delhi in 2009. This place was started by two Americans who wanted to defy the division in society and built a place where a factory worker could sit alongside a banker. The unique selling point of this place is its grand collection of Rock memorabilia. They had live music then and it started with Eric Clapton giving his guitar to reserve a bar stool at this place. This action began to trend and Hard Rock Cafe became the Smithsonian of Rock n Roll. Once you step in you will know what I mean.
With the changing times, Hard Rock Cafe has begun having month long festivals wherein they add the best of recipes of food and booze from different cultures bringing myriad flavors to the palate.
Well, the celebrations began with none other than the ‘Mexican Ice Cold Bulldog Margarita’,
Also available with Kingfisher Ultra
And then what followed was a colorful array of cocktails followed by mouth watering foods:
Cranberry and Lychee Margarita
The deadly yet beautiful combo of Liquid Lust and Spotty!
Spotty comes into existence by the fusion of kiwi pulp and Jose Cuervo Especial Silver tequila, served semi frozen.
The shooters that begun to arrive consisted of the pink diva that won all our hearts by being called “Shot in the Head”, Next was the Tequila Slammer and there is a way to have that.
As the Latin music picked up pace with the beats of Shakira’s Whenever and Rickey Martin’s Livin’ LaVida Loca, a waft of lovely aroma assailed our nostrils and such delicacies were lined up on the table:
First was the Red Rod Fries, excellent starter to build up our appetites.
Next, Spanish Influenced Fire Cracker – Crunchy Chicken Tenders,
followed by Tijuana Chicken Sub Roll.
By now I am sure most would be wondering what happened to all the vegetarians? So here are the treats served to them:
Samosette of Spicy Corn & Cheddar cheese! Yum!,
Brazilian BBQ veg grill skewers,
Coming back to non vegetarian again (I am so glad!) next is the Char Grilled Tex – Mex Chicken Skewers
The green flag here, indicates Albuquerque – Vegetarian Burrito
The red flag here indicates Bahama Mama – Chicken Burrito
I would like to give a special mention to my favorite dish, being a seafood lover I recommend this dish to anyone who loves prawns! I give you Orange tequila Prawns.
Now we witnessed one of the oldest tradition for which Hard Rock is famous, the sing – dance on “Y.M.C.A by Village People”. None of us could stop ourselves from joining in.
What followed this was a cocktail DIY workshop in association with Tulleeho.com and I tried making a cocktails and drank it too! Be a bartender, even once just for that time made my wish come true.
It was a blast from the very start right till the very end.
I must say that this place holds a key to everyone’s taste specially with such great combination of food. I would really like to thank our bartender at the table
and the bartender behind the bar who taught me how to make Tequila Lemonade Surprise
The Zesty Latin fare is on till the 6th of September, 2015. So what are you waiting for go join the fun and frolic.
