Ploof located in Lodhi Colony market had a 4 course dinner going on in collaboration with Wow Tables and I had the pleasure of sampling their fare.
The evening began with a couple of drinks, the orange vodka mojito and the apple martini. The Mojito was stupendous and you could sip it all night, it was that good.
The roast chicken soup was a great start to the evening. The flavour of star anise was the surprise as well as the best part about the dish as it elevated a simple soup to an altogether different level.
The Prawn karwari was great to taste. The prawns were not cooked that well and were a bit bland but the masala on its own was outstanding.
The grilled fish skewers were quite good too with a subtle hint of lemon, complementing the light taste of fish.
My favourite part of the meal was surely the main course as both our dishes were hearty and truly Italian. The Country style fusilli pomodoro was a heavenly combination of sausage, pepperoni and cheese. It was full of punchy flavours and the best dish of the day.
The other pasta dish, fettuccine marinara was spot on too. This was full of flavour yet light on the stomach, difficult even for the best restaurants to achieve.
Moreover, the marinara sauce was cooked the Italian way and one could taste the onions, garlic, parsley and other wonderful ingredients.
The desserts were a french caramel chocolate taste and banoffee pie. The chocolate tart was superb. The pastry could have been slightly better but the chocolate ganache topping was perfect. The banoffee pie was superb too, decadent and rich and very memorable.
