On March 18th, Sutra Gastropub in the niche Cyber City of Gurgaon hosted Black & White Moments – Sharing the journey of Advaita. Advaita – Meaning non-dual or being one – is a contemporary Indian music band based out of Delhi. Regularly featuring in the likes of MTV Coke Studio & Sound trek – the heterogeneous fusion octet instantly connect with people who love and know their music. Their forte is blending the traditional with the modern. You get to hear effortless blends of traditional Indian classical vocal, sarangi and tabla with electric guitars, keyboards and drums. Black & White Moments celebrated Advaita’s beautiful musical journey till now.
Much before the performance started, the place was buzzing with people – fans and aficionados. Being a weekday, a place brimming with people just verves to show the popularity of the events and the venue as a prime for the party people. Everyone seemed to enjoy the drinks, music and ambience.
The instant the band started the performance the area around the stage was jam packed. Tapping to the soulful music, everyone was mesmerized and stood there as the band members narrated their story – starting from the time in 2004 when they started – through 2009 when they launched their first album –‘Grounded in Space’ – continuing to 2012, when they received Global Indian Music Award (GIMA) for Best Rock Album and Jack Daniel’s Rock Award for ‘Best Album’ for their second album – ‘The Silent Sea’ interspersed by their performances.
Sutra, The Gastropub has an idyllic yet majestic feel. Boasting of both an inside and outside seating, this is a hip place in the DLF Cyber City. With the menu ranging for finger food to traditional India, pastas and street food, there is quite a variety to choose from.
As people moved from Manhattan, to Old Fashioned, Black & White Sweet Whiskey Lemonade, the swayed hand in hand to the amazing tunes of Advaita. The restaurant’s food is good, service is impeccable, but the ambiance is the USP of this place.
