Shahid Kapoor was in Dubai last week for the launch of British menswear brand. The superstar who just won our hearts and a Filmfare for his stellar performane in Haider spoke about his upcoming projects like Shaandaarand Udta Punjab, his co-star Alia Bhatt, his chemistry with Tabu and even his brother Ishaan’s future in Bollywood exclusively with Masala. Shahid spoke about how grateful he is to his fans for accepting and appreciating an unconventional film like Haider which he feels did not have a very mass appeal but still managed to win big at all major award functions. And although he finds the love from his audience overwhelming, he has other challenges to face in the near future.
The actor is finding the transition from his dark, intense and extremely complex character in Haider to his more light-hearted roles in Vikas Bahl’s Shandar and Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab extremely challenging. The shooting of Shaandar and the brilliance of Queen Director Vikas Bahl is making the process easier for him and he’s super excited about Shandar’s release this year.
Shahid feels that the film is extra special for him as he will be sharing screen space with his father Pankaj Kapur as well as his sister Sanah who makes her debut with this project. Speaking about his siblings, Shahid revealed that both his brothers, Ishaan and Ruhaan and his sister Sanah are extremely well informed about the process of filmmaking and could probably teach him a thing or two about acting. Well, there you have it. The superstar is becoming increasingly modest as he climbs up the Bollywood success ladder. The film is also exciting for him as it marks his first time with co-star Alia Bhatt who he couldn’t stop praising. Shahid told us that Alia’s evolution has been phenomenal and impressive and she’s really someone to watch out for in the coming years.
The star is all set to return to Punjab for the shoot of Udta Punjab with Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt later this year. We couldn’t help but ask him about how he feels returning to Punjab after the shoot of Jab We Met and he said that the place evokes nostalgia and makes him want to come back every single time.As the purpose of his trip was the launch of a fashion label, we couldn’t help but wonder about his own personal style statement as he is always impeccably well dressed. Shahid emphasized his love for well-tailored suits like the one by Hawes and Curtis that he wore for the interview and also added that he finds formals like this very stylish and could live in them if he had to. The style icon will be back in Dubai very soon to promote all his upcoming ventures and hopefully win us over again with his charm, his unassuming nature and his witty response to almost everything.
