It’s Monday evening and I have had a very hectic day at work. I rush to a blogger’s meet that we have had planned and we have several delectable desserts awaiting us.
There was a lot of interesting food to try but my focus was on the lovely desserts we had on offer. I love anything sweet. Period. Don’t judge me. My best excuse to stuff myself with sweet treats is that I am half way through my book – Desserts in Delhi. You have no idea how hard I work. And nothing makes me happier than a well made light-as-a-feather classic French macaron.
Overwhelmed by pure greed I dug into five differnt kinds of macarons – rose, mint, salted caramel, vanilla bean and chocolate. Isn’t it mysteriously comforting when you sink your teeth into something that is so different to what you are used to having? The shameless alchemy of baked egg whites with interesting flavours and subtle sweetness, is a magical thing.
These macarons, especially the rose macaron with its tastiness, crunch, softness and a sprinkle of rose petals was a glorious reminder of what the word macaron meant before it went all commercial. What I ate that day was a tribute to the baker’s extraordinary craft.
Too many macarons made me crave for something different. Next, I ate some chocolates that Sugarama sent me and my love letter took an interesting turn. The Cardamon Chocolate was incredibly fragrant, it reminded me of Zaabär. I lay in bed the following day thinking to myself if only I had some more of those chocolates I probably wouldn’t be craving them so badly today.
The Strawberry Chilli Chocolate was an exciting creation too, the hit of chilli at the very end made me fall in love with it. Other things to try on the menu are Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Cookies.
Don’t miss Sugarama!
