Cafe Review: Another Fine Day, Sector 43, Gurgaon – 3.5/5 Stars

A great little place for breakfast!

Breakfast, such an important meal of the day, is yet unexplored in restaurants in our city. We have some fabulous eateries down south that serve steaming hot breakfast and you can clearly start your day on a high. So, a new addition to this breakfast tradition in Gurgaon should be welcomed with open arms.

Another fine day positions itself as a breakfast cum book cafe restaurant with a pretty good classic menu. I began with a classic ham croissant (chicken), which was well put together and big enough to satisfy your hunger pangs. My tea accompaniment, a cup of steaming masala chai was wonderful. Though not an avid tea drinker, I really thought this tea was one of the better chais I’ve had.

Next on the breakfast list was a pot of blueberry and yoghurt granola. Although they do not make the yoghurt in their kitchen but the yoghurt is lusciously good and brings all the ingredients of the pot together. It is light too and the combination of the blackberry coulis and good quality granola is a breakfast dish you want to have everyday.

Then came the many non breakfast-y, more café-like items. I ordered a Penne Arabiatta, which was plainly superb. The tomato sauce was so flavourful and the balance of garlic, roasted tomatoes and herbs was TASTY.

There was a mezze platter with superbly crisp calamari and a decent hummus. My absolute favourite on the mezze were the cheese cigars. Gooey and sinful, the kind of dish you love and your doctors hate!

I also had a superb chicken burger and maybe because I was not expecting it, but I found the burger better than many international burger joints. I loved the well-cooked patty that was juicy and had locked the flavours in very well.

Finally, among the desserts I liked the cheesecake. We also had the tiramisu. It was a very different tiramisu; it wasn’t anything like the tiramisus I have had at other restaurants. This dessert is gonna be loved by all those who enjoy the bitterness of coffee and the richness of cream. It wasn’t that sweet but because I liked the coffee flavour, this worked well for me. My partner thought they could have made it a bit richer, sweeter and sinful but then again he doesn’t like coffee at all.

This quaint little place is a great addition to the Gurgaon restaurant scene. It is bright, cheerful and you can sit here with a great book (from their library) or with some great food and have some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life.

XOXO
