The Beer Café introduced its new menu designed by Chef Sabyasachi Gorai or Chef Saby as people popularly know him. This Café is India’s largest beer chain and has been for two years now. The Beer Café – BIGGIE in Connaught Place is this chain’s flagship outlet.
It was indeed very impressive to see Chef Sabyasachi Gorai steering towards good quality fresh local ingredients and simple fuss free dishes for the new menu. Their presentations were an aesthetic delight and most of the flavours were lovely.
The new menu has been crafted really thoughtfully and comprises of international and regional dishes and a lot of mouth-watering comfort food. The Chef gets his inspiration from classic movies and songs. The dishes have really amusing and quirky names that include “Chicken Run” (The Beer Café’s signature BBQ chicken wings), “Hollow Man” (Crunchy summer vegetables stuffed rice paper rolls) or a “TirchiTopiwale” (stuffed mushrooms).
The tacos and thin crust Pizzas were quite fresh and delicious; the dough was freshly made by hand. The Sausage Platter, Australian Wok Tossed Noodles, Burgers, Beer battered fish, etc. had all been cooked beautifully. I believe I liked the freshness of it all the most. Anything that has been freshly prepared with good ingredients can’t go wrong.
I love dessert and I was really looking forward to what they have to serve. They served a lovely looking Tiramisu and a Citrus beer pudding. I did not have much of the Citrus beer pudding but the Tiramisu was to die for. It was one of the nicest desserts I have had in a really long time.
It was a lot of fun to meet Chef Saby who is clearly very deeply involved in his profession. His passion for food is visible in his new and distinctive menu. He has included a lot of his favourite recipes like Beer chicken Vindaloo on the menu. The Vindaloo is served with savoury beer crepes and tastes quite interesting. It is definitely an acquired taste much like the Banana Beeramisu, which is tiramisu made with Beer and bananas.
Dining at The Beer Café has always been quite an experience but the new menu has made it even more enjoyable!
