When you first visit China Club you will be slightly overwhelmed with the decor and a wall full of accolades for the restaurant. Whenever I visit a restaurant I do not want to know too much about its menu because I like to be surprised. However, sometimes it is better to know what’s good and what’s not because it prevents any unpleasant surprises.
At China Club you will never spend less than 4000 for two people with drinks. This place is expensive but at the same time the food here is commendable. This is surely a fine dining Chinese restaurant.
We started with the Fried Chicken and Asparagus. Now, it is very easy for a chef to mess up their asparagus but not at China Club. The asparagus was very well done and I was surprised how it went so well with the fried chicken.
We also were in the mood to try their wide variety of soups so we went for the Sweet Corn Chicken Soup and Hot and Sour Chicken Soup. Both the soups tasted phenomenal. They actually tasted much better than they looked, maybe the restaurant can work a little on the presentation of their soups.
Moving on, we ordered Chicken with Ginger and Spring Onions. This dish was a winner! It was flavoursome and delicious. I was afraid that Ginger will dominate the dish but it absolutely did not. It was very very well prepared. Highly recommended. The double cooked lamb was a slight disappointment though because it seemed a little heavy on the stomach as we ate it.
Dessert time! We ordered their Almond Praline Ice cream and Brownies with Ice Cream and we loved both desserts. The desserts were a brilliant end to our delicious meal.
On a scale of 5 this place deserves a 4.
