Mamagoto is a fantastic place to dine. I am a regular at this restaurant and I never seem to get bored of it.
Mamagoto means “to play with food”. Based on a Japanese social experiment of sorts, involving infants to use their senses to understand the textures and shape of food; this restaurant stands out of the hundreds of other restaurants serving Asian, Thai, and Chinese food.
Asian eating can be a lot of fun at Mamagoto. This restaurant has created a relaxed and casual atmosphere where affordable and authentic food and drinks combine with a quirky but chic decor. I love every bit of the yellows and reds they have used to make this place a fun experience.
This Indian-born Japanese chain received quite a lot of press coverage. The newspapers and magazines are calling it “The taste of Asia”. I was also impressed to see that this has the Times Food Award for the best oriental restaurant. I am not surprised. The food is brilliant, the service is impeccable and the ambience is …inspired.
If you go to Mamagoto, and everyone should at least once, order the “Honey Chicken with Bell Peppers”. The perfectly coated chicken pieces tasted wonderful. I loved my freshly squeezed apple juice. I had a sore throat so I asked for it to be done without ice.
It tasted fresh and went really well with the honey chicken. The fried rice came in a deep dish, quite a large portion. There were three of us and we still couldn’t finish all of it.
The “Thai Green Curry” is an acquired taste and I do not like it very much but my mom found it to be very flavoursome, fresh and slurp-able! She did a great job finishing all of it while sipping on her “Mint Lemonade” with fresh basil leaves.
