Call me crazy, but I keep looking through Glass Cake Showcase Display Units just to see if a particular bakery/cafe has cheesecakes to offer. If you read my reviews, you know I love cheesecake. A rich creamy cheesecake with a buttery graham cracker crust transports me into a world of bliss. I love the union of crunchy, buttery and creamy in one heavenly slice of cheesecake. Yea, I’m slightly obsessed with cheesecake..ok, really obsessed ;-).
The Glass Cake Showcase Display Unit at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf filled my mouth with saliva. I had to go in.
The cheesecake I ordered looked really creamy and chunky. The baked cheesecake was slightly smelly but tasted real nice. The blueberry cheesecake was slightly disappointing as it tasted like blueberry mousse. When making a good cheesecake what matters is that the fundamentals are done right. What helps is the use of good quality cheese, biscuits and butter – the right ingredients really make a huge difference to taste.
Moving on to beverages, the iced coffee was done without any ice cream and tasted like “coffee water” – it was absolute piss. I guess we asked for it though, because they offered to add ice cream and we refused. However, we did not have the slightest clue what we would get ourselves into with the watery coffee. – ugh! The chocolate shake was quite a delight though, the absolute opposite of the vile coffee.
A cafe experience can be memorable if the menu is small but powerful and the servers are few but friendly. If simple things are done well and with proper attention to detail both the customer and the cafe can benefit.
